♥ Hello Georgie,
♥ August was an eventful month. On August 12th, my son, Don, graduated from Brigham Young University. It was a touching moment for us as parents as we watched him walk and receive his diploma. He has worked so hard and it was a wonderful moment to see him receive his reward. Almost a week later, on August 21st, our next exciting moment was Dylan James Osmond, our first grandbaby! I had just flown into Salt Lake that morning from doing a show in Minneapolis. We all rendezvoused at the hospital just in time for the great event. I'll never forget the words from my son when he walked out of the delivery room. With baby in arms he looked up at me and said "This is my son." I melted. He is a beautiful baby and being a Grandpa is so much fun! Well, January to August was a busy 8 months. A ton of travel and touring. I am so thrilled with the way everything turned out, especially the success of "Breeze on By". We did something that nobody thought was imaginable... We had a Smooth Jazz hit. Even George Benson said he loves the way I treated his song. I was able to perform it with him a couple of weeks ago at the Park City Jazz Festival. Again, I want to thank the DOIT teams all over the North American area as well as all of the dot comers, for that matter, for their hard work in getting that record known to everyone. Guess what? It's all going to start again. :) I have the next single ready and we are shipping it out to stations and to the DOIT teams this week.
♥ It's going to be the title track "What I Meant To Say". The difference is, this radio version has Dave Koz playing sax on it. You can hear the entire song by going to the donny.com home page and clicking on the banner in the top section of the page. We start sending it to stations this week and all you need to do is just make them aware that it's coming. Let's hope that AC and Smooth Jazz will like it. I'm so happy with it. Of course I would say that. I wrote it. :) I think you'll love what Dave Koz has done. I'm on my way over to the UK right now to do a promotional tour for my autobiography that's coming out as we speak. It's going to be great to be back there. I'm really looking forward to touring over there again. The show is going to be so much fun. I've put a lot of cool video pieces in the show as well as some new songs. I am looking forward to returning to the Orleans in Las Vegas during the upcoming year. Most of this new UK show will be implemented into the Vegas show. We have posted the dates on the Member Area. Now... During 2006 I am going to take some time off from touring. Yeah, you've heard that before :) I'll be spending time on some other projects, namely releasing a 3 DVD set of the Donny & Marie show. I'm going to be remixing the original audio and compiling 9 hours of the best moments of the 4 years that Marie and I did. There is a email address that has been set up donnyandmarie@donny.com for me to hear your thoughts about what you feel should be included in these 9 hours.
♥ What are your favourite segments skits, musical numbers, guests, etc. I'll compile all of this and try to fit as many of these moments into the 3 dvd set. During this past year, I was away a lot with touring and promoting, so I want to spend some time with my family as well. I will be doing the Melaleuca Conference calls though because that has so much potential for so many of you. Many have benefited a lot already and I want to keep that going strong. I want to thank everyone for the wonderful baby gifts and cards that have been sent to Jeremy and Melissa for Dylan. He'll be the best dressed kid in Utah. The Donny.com community has once again, been incredibly generous and kind, especially in the wake of hurricane Katrina. It is amazing to see the help that this little community of donny.comers has rendered. It just goes to show what kind of people belong to this site. Please continue to help those who are in such dire straights. They really need the help. Thank you.
